Guard dog .45 acp

This ammo is reported to be down loaded as compared to EFMJ otherwise mostly the same.

I shot a few rnds today and was pleasantly surprised by it's performance. It seemed to be great energy xfer with a 2.7 qt OJ jug and made a 2" hole on exit, much better than some SD loads that just split the back side and slip through the crack.

Next time 2x4s.

Federal HD ammo based on the EFMJ; Seems the ammo makers need pet names for their ammo for the new age gunners; ie, critical defense, critical duty, ultimate home defense------ There probably will be one coming out
" Shoot them Submissive".

Shot a bundle of 2x6 today, the Guard dog did not get through the first board, big expansion. Shot a ball rnd for comparison, it got through 1&1/2 boards.

Built a simulated wall and ran out of time; had to go walk with Clean.

Interesting dig deep and expand. I like the concept especially in a 45.

Shot my wall, it was 4 layers of a 1/4 inch paneling nailed together separated by 2" by the left over pieces of 2x6. The bullet zipped right through, expanding more on each panel with a 3/4" exit hole on the last panel.

So, loaded down or not Guard Dog ammo will go into the next room unless the stud is hit.

I need to try simulated clothing over the tgt; but, this is my last post on this issue.

1. Don't they have sheetrock walls where you come from?

2. almost every single round in the world that has a success rate for stopping power WILL penetrate a wall. Trying to find one that won't is like trying to find a sharp knife that can't cut your finger.

That's not the point, it is billed as not to over penetrate walls, I'm guessing it would do two walls usless it hits two inches of wood, like the stud.

The other point is many HP's clog with wood and do not expand.

Besides I do not wish to buy sheetrock to shoot.

How did it work thru the cloth?? If someone kicks in the front door in the winter they will probably have a coat on so would be good to know that. We own 10 acres and our home is in the middle of it so I really don't worry about over penetration of SD rounds. My main concern is will they did deep enough and stop the attack. I use 158 gr +P 38's from Buffalo Bore in my 38/357's and like the performance at the range. The 45 ACP is a great round that has proven it will get the job done and like I said before I like the sound of a FMJ that expands. Food for thought when I get my SR1911. Thanks.

Well, with the disaster last night and the plumber here most of the day and now waiting on Clean's car in which they don't know what the cause of the problem is; that got put on hold.

Later this week I hope.

Ok, I put 4 layers of rubber backed kitchen rug in front and two in the back.
The bullet did not expand through the rug layers in front, expanded to 3/4" as before through the wood, and zipped through the back two layers of rug with big holes.

I guess this is good SD ammo.

No, Guns, I have not seen it avil around here; I'll look for it or the next time I mail order ammo and see if they have some. It might be fun to play with it.
