.22 ammo doing reverse of expected

My main local source is Sportsman's Warehouse. Their ammo stock has been disappointing since Thanksgiving. Before then, they were getting regular AutoMatch, Thunderbolts, Mini-Mags; even American Eagle and Champion bricks. None since. Now it's almost all match stuff like Aquila and Eley. A few Golden Bullets and Browning's new ammo. A little CCI SV. They're still not getting but a few cases a week, too.

I hear that my local Gander and Dick's are about the same.

I really don't care, since I have more .22 than I know what to do with, but I was using ammo stocks to judge the current politics. I thought with Trump in, the shelves would start filling, and with stuff we're not used to seeing, like Federal Value Packs or Blazer bulk. I guess not?

My local Cabela's must have over 100,000 rounds. Just about anything you want. Even my local Mill's Fleet Farm took down the limit signs, and they've had a limit of one box for years, even if it's 50 rounds.

I mainly shop Cabelas & they have had a good supply, but I have been in a strick look, but don't buy mode unless it's a great deal.

I over stocked on several items, expecting a different election outcome.

I am glad I was wrong.

I guess it's just a regional thing, then. Good to hear that someone is seeing ammo heading back to normal.

I've only seen that once since Turkey Day. Sportsman's did have some .22 Long about a week ago. First I've seen that in maybe a year.

we are flush on thunderbolts, cci standard, and cci mini mag.......prices still have not dropped but i suspect past supply/demand prices will be in effect until the pipeline clears......before we see a significant price drop........

i'm guessing wally world will be the first to drop prices since they move so much volume from their warehouses.

at least now i can shop a little instead of taking just what they have..........so i only have eyes for cci

Like me, over the last two years I shot up the ammo I wasn't wild about. All I have now is various Federal and Mini-Mags. I have some Federal Auto Match I'm not crazy about, but it's okay. Not a single round of Remington or Winchester now.

Think I still have about 2 1/2 bricks of 22 yellow box Winchesters of the 3 I inherited from my Dad in 1995. Obvious I don't shoot a lot of 22. I would much rather blast away with a 357 or 44.

I'm the opposite. Besides 22, I've got about 1200 rounds of 38 for the SP101. That'll do me about three years, shooting half a box each trip.

EDIT: LCR changed to SP101. No more LCR, so the SP can have it....

It hasn't been bad here in upstate NY, I've seen good prices in some local gun shops too.
22 mag is still a bit high though.

Now if the prices would start to fall back to where they were. I'm thinking that's why they have so much, I'm still seeing 50 rounds of 22lr for $3.99 that about $2 to high

The Glendale Cabela's has sagging shelves, filled with any type of .22 ammo you could possibly want. They even have bricks of .22 long. I haven't seen those in years.

Made the rounds of my big box stores yesterday, looking for a basic pistol rug, got an Uncle Mike's at Sportsman. Still not a lot of .22, and poor selection. Gander had some CCI SV, and a very few Mini-Mags. Dick's had a few dozen AutoMatch and some Winchester Super X. Sportsman had seven Thunderbolt bulk ($ 30....) a dozen or so Golden Bullet bulk ($ 37 .....) and maybe a hundred of different Aquilas, which always sells slow at $ 12 up for fifty. You couldn't have filled half a cart with all three store's .22 inventory.

Cabela's is getting back to my 6 cent per round limit.

They had a deal on double Remington GB Buckets recently.
