I never really paid much attention to 7.62x25, untill recently when I read some stuff about it on the web. I had no idea that it had the power (especially penetration) that I'm reading about. Anybody shoot this round? In what gun? Ammo availability? etc etc etc. |

It was used in the Tokarev and the PPSh submachineguns. I think there was an earlier thread when Deputy asked about it. The ammo is hot and very cheap, maybe the cheapest surplus stuff.

Around the turn of the century in Europe the early autos came out in several bottlenecked .30 caliber high velocity cartridges like .30 Mauser and .30 Luger. These had high velocity and were flat shooting with deep penetration. The German military tested the .30 Luger but made them go big bore with the 9mm. Many adopted the .30. The stopping power was poor unless heavy bone or vital nerve centers were hit but most military institutions don't tend to think that way and these replaced very underpowered revolver rounds like the 8mm or pocket pistol rounds like the .32 ACP so they were an improvement. The Soviet round was based on the Mauser which was quite popular there in the Broomhandle but I think it may have been hotter. It was loaded even hotter yet in Czechoslovakia for the CZ 52, a very strong action.

Gunrunner has actually shot the cartridge and worked with it. Maybe Pete as well.

The bottle neck case makes it feed 100% and it was King till the 357 mag came out . I've own 3 CZ 52 it is a cheap to buy , super gun and very accurate. The ammo was super cheap , then it got out of sight . The machine ammo was super hot and CZ loved it ... The 357 Sig is almost the same thing ... It was the CZ52 I had , not the CZ75 , so I just change it |

I had a CZ 52 and a romanian tok in 7.62X25.it is a excellent round and one time they tried to ban it as it would go thru body armor. http://www.cruffler.com/review-March-01.html http://www.makarov.com/cz52/ http://www.theboxotruth.com/docs/edu59.htm there is only one draw back to the round if your a handloader.it ejects the brass into the next county IMHO with milsurp ammo dirt cheap I wouldn't mess with reloading for the 7.62X25. http://www.jgsales.com/product_info.php ... 8c55c08861 http://www.centerfiresystems.com/70rd76 ... 62302.aspx |

if it was made in china it was a tok.the CZ52 had rollers and where made in Czechoslovakia. the TOKs ( china ) could also be bought with a extra barrel in 9MM luger.in germany at the rod and gun club (1985) the pistol with both barrels NIB with holster was 110.00 OTD and they didn't have that add on safety which was required to be imported into the US. http://50ae.net/collection/tt33/ deadeye I am pretty sure ol ET2SS has some toks left. http://www.newphillysports.com/ and drop by OUR milsurp forum sometime.ol mario and I hang out there http://www.yesterdaysweapons.com/phpBB3/index.php |
