Competition Target Muzzleloading Pistols

I'm looking for a cap lock and or flint lock (would be nice to buy a pair) of target pistols. I'm looking for something of the inline design. Something you would see at Friendship Indiana in the Nationals.

If you have anything like that for sale or willing to part with them please let me know. Or if you know where I might be able to look for something like that again please let me know.

I've shot and won many medals in championship match all over USA . Most match the guns must original or exact copy of one . You need to get a rule book and see which gun you can shoot at there match And also to who is making the wining guns .

A few years ago my buddy in pic won the Az state championship with this gun . It is a smooth bore flint gun and hold world records that gun and other he owns .

Thank you for the pics and help but the "traditional" pistols are not what I'm looking for. I'm looking for the in-line muzzleloading pistols. Most are custom built or semi-prodction guns. Yazel, 10-Ring, Lightning, Lewis are some name examples. I've read the rules and the Nationals are in September. They take place in Friendship Indiana. I've been preparing with my mentors guns but it would be nice to own a set of my own.

Those gun are nice , but they are not legal in many of the NRA shoots or in many country around the world I know of . I've quit doing the serous BP match since the 90's . Here is one I designed and built , and this is the 1st 10 rd I shot on target less foulers and sighters in this gun . . . . Good Luck in your shoots .

That is a very nice weapon you've built. Both image and accuracy are very well done. I'm a member of the National Muzzleloading Rifle Association and that's who's putting on the national shoot. You are right - some clubs don't allow the use of the guns I'm looking for but NMLRA does. They also hold strictly a "traditional" pistol match where inlines are not allowed. Only traditional pistols or replica's of traditional models. No adjustable sights really. I will be competing in "unlimited handgun" matches. Adjustable sights, custom grips, inline cap-locks and so on.

I miss the competition and my buddy's I shot with over the years . I shot with the top 3 ML shooters in the USA twice a month . I couldn't afford the time off or money it took to travel around the world with them . Now that I'm retired and I have the time and the money but I lost my drive and edge you need to win the matches at age 70 . I have tons of good memories .

You also have a priceless wealth of knowledge, understanding, and experience. I salute the way you are so generous in sharing it.

This is a small forum that would be easy to miss or pass over but there is an amazing amount of knowledge here. We have several people with remarkable ability and experience that a person interested in the sport could not buy access to but that people here share freely. I am very appreciative of this and tip my hat to the remarkable men and women that share their priceless experience and hard won knowledge with anyone who asks here.

I thank you folks. I have learned a lot and I love the people here. What a fine group.

If you shot internationally did you by any chance ever hear of or shoot with a Charlie Haffner Jr. from Tennessee?

Charlie is my mentor. I work as a range officer at his range and he is helping me get ready for the nationals. I'm learning bullseye pistol shooting from him.

Here is the only inline I've seen . Not a high dollar gun or super target gun in my opinion .

Charlie Haffner? Glad to hear he is still around. Met him in the early 80s at the Mid South matches in Memphis. Believe he sells the Standing Bear target I have been compared to.

Most states BP guns are not Firearm and be carried loaded on your person or in a car . Think about that went the SHTF .

I just picked up this barrel for my Encore after a long search. They didn't make many of these 50 cal ML barrels for the Encore and they are darn hard to get. Now, not sure I'd classify it as a target BP pistol, but I know a guy that shoots one and, from the bench, his will do inch and a half at 100 yards with the right load. No, I won't be loading this thing up to the gills, though it will take the same loads as my Encore ML rifle barrel. Lot's of guys shoot these Encore ML pistols with a full 100 grain loads of T7 or BH209, but I'll probably start at 80 and work up until I reach the best accuracy load.
