enfield 2A1 7.62

found this today when I was out in lampasas in a small shop.it was a 100.00 otd .bolt & reciever match the wood is vg cond and the bore looks great.if it shoots good a nice cheap 7.62 nato plinker .

Enough with the artsy fartsy cartridges. Find a nice good old fashioned 30-06 or 308 and then send it my way.

That's a pretty cool gun, but the cartridge size screws me up. Per usual.

That is the 7.62 NATO, the military version of the .308 Winchester. I think the civilian cartridge is rated for higher pressures but there is lots of surplus and mil spec ammo. The best cartridge in an excellent rifle. I like!

...Pete...how old is that rifle??? When did they invent the NATO round? Seems a generation gap oughta be there....

They were made into the early seventies. The Indians had adopted the FAL and wanted these in the same caliber.
