204 Ruger

No trouble finding brass bullets , but boy just try and find a cleaning kit for one lol. I will have to make do with a bore snake. Bore snakes are great but I still like to clean the old fashion way from time to time. Can't wait to test this little jewel out, I am sure she will do all I have been told and more.

my 22 cal carbon fiber rod works fine, but I prefer my Otis pull through that fits no problem

Snuffer, while I have no personal experience with a .204, I have friends who have them and I've read everything I could find about them. The way I see it, is if you can see him, you have an odds on chance of puttin' a hole in him. The wind, unless it's a hurricane, isn't that much of a factor, because it's so fast, around 4000 feet per second. That shortens the time of flight considerably, which decreases wind drift......if ya get my drift. Load 'em up and whack 'em.

+1 .... The higher bullet BC is and the faster FPS is the less the wind drift will be . .

The best BC I found in the 204 was .275 http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct/?p ... 1165214433

Re: 204 Ruger

If that 204 shoots near 4000 fps copper fouling will be most of your problems . I was at a gun range and the guy next to me said he burned the barrel out of his 220 swift he was shooting and would not shoot under 2" that day . I bought the gun from him , took it home and cleaned the copper out of it and returned to the range the next day with his ammo , shot 10 rounds under a inch . I would get a good copper cleaner like Sweet's or something and clean every 10 shots if I was you ....

Re: 204 Ruger

Good to know I have sweets on hand. I have another question as to scope selection. I presntly have a Zos 56X24 scope on it but I can change it out for a Leapole fix 12X. For the type of shooting I may be doing with under 100 yard shots to over 300 yards shots which is the better scope?

Re: 204 Ruger

Snuffer, I'm not sure what that first scope is, but if you're gonna be callin' coyotes, you're gonna need a good variable scope. I keep mine set on the lowest power unless they're really out there. Distance equates to time on your side, time you'll have to jack up the magnification. You don't really need a high power scope, a 3- 9 or a 2-10 will work quite well. Be prepared to swear a lot, 'cause you're gonna. Callin' is a lot of fun, but it's real hard on your good nature.

Re: 204 Ruger

Thanks, the range that I use to shoot at I am told is now open once again. I am not sure for how long or what the details are but I am sure we have a whole new set of rules ya know. I am of the way of thinking had the officers of the range had done their job to start with this mess might not have happened.
Anyhow there I have a known 300 yards to sight in on and that will work for me. Normally I wouldn't as pissed as I have been with this range closer but it did cost me a long range match. By not having the range to use I wasn't able to fully test the loads I wanted to use at the match. Of course here lately on that part its sucked to be me lol.
I guess I'll find out today as to what is what to go on the amighty range, really got a bad taste in my mouth about the range offical's out there these days, think it had something to do with that match- although I am not sure.

Re: 204 Ruger

I know what your talking about, the range just opened this week and its rained here the last two days. As a matter of fact its still raining, I hope the weather man is right and it stops tomorrow, then I hope it dries up enough for me to be able to go to the range. I am wanting to see what she will do myself.
