Probably right but I like the Remington 700 but I'll settle for my Ruger 77.

I've owned a few Remingtons and have really liked them. I know that there are others that I would enjoy just as much though. I may end up with a Savage one day.

In rifle silhouette , which is shot from 100 to 500 meter I have never seen any gun win a match other then a custom or Remy actions plus 308 seem to be the caliber of choice for the winners . The Mauser is a great gun , but the lock time is super slow and hurt you off hand and shooting the long shots . If you shoot deer at 100 yds my flint gun is good also |

Hard to argue with the Mauser, as most modern bolt action rifles are based on the Mauser anyway. My bolt actions are Ruger 77 MK2s, which is pretty much a modern version of the Mauser.

I cant pick just one. I like my 98, the model 70, and the Enfields. All for different reasons.

Mod 70 in .308. For anything but fighting it is nice. Sure is nice to look at and handle. I have a Leupold VariX 2 3-9x40 scope and Redfield swing off base. ![]() |

Thanks. It's probably better than I deserve I think it's from the early or mid 70s. No Mauser type controlled feed but the wood and metal or nicely polished and the bolt is slick. I like it. I think the barrel is 22". |
