the Heizer derringer got me to looking up some more derringers and thinking about some old High Standard derringers i had years back. They are rather proud of those old high standards on gunbroker nowadays. anyways, did sime checking around and low and behold American Derringer is building what would appear to be a high standard copy in .22 mag....... http://www.amderringer.com/das.html ![]() have not had any luck figuring the cost. Bud's and galleryofguns does not carry them. i really like this pattern....no safety to fumble with....no hammer. |

I've owned 2 HS derringer both in 22 LR and I also had one and I can't remember who made it and it looks like the HS but in 38 spec . All 3 were great guns but they can't match the 45ACP for stopping power or carry 2 spare rds in grip frame that why the Heizer seams like a good idea to me ....

I've never shot a derringer. How are they? It seems a 22 would be okay but something bigger would be hard to handle. thanks

I have a NAA 22 mag and it is easy to shoot tough to shoot accurately beyond belly range distance. It technically isn't a derringer as it's a 5 shot but I imagine the 357 mag derringers get your attention.

Yes the rear sight is pretty narrow and shallow to try and use so it's a front sight drill. If it gets down to using it, it's circle the wagons time and start thinking about where you put the knife.

The HS is a great hide gun and the DA is far better and 3 times faster then the SA . The Bond is too big and heavy for a hide gun . My 410 is super for killing snakes on my farm .. Last edited by tx gun runner; 01-15-2012 at 03:03 PM. |
