Man with CCL Thwarts Armed Robbery ...

... in SC Waffle House.
I thought it was interesting that the licensee pulled his gun and initially tried to just hold the armed robbers at gunpoint until police arrived and didn't shoot until one of the robbers pointed his gun at him. Given the circumstance of two robbers, I don't personally think that I would have waited (though with a round to the chest and a round to the head it appears that this guy has had some training along the way).

A Roebuck man - less than two hours into his 19th birthday - entered the Waffle House on Chesnee Highway with a gun and attempted to rob the restaurant before a customer fired his weapon, killing the teen, authorities said Saturday.

Spartanburg County sheriff's deputies responded to the Waffle House at 2230 Chesnee Highway just before 1:15 a.m. Saturday. Two masked men had entered the restaurant with the intention of robbing it, and at least one of them was armed, authorities said.

A customer, who is a concealed weapons permit holder, thwarted the robbery by pulling his gun and attempting to hold the men until deputies arrived. When one of the men pointed his gun at the customer, the patron fired, killing the teenager.

The teenager, later identified as Dante Lamont Williams, of 827 S. Edisto River Drive, Roebuck, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a written statement from Coroner Rusty Clevenger. Williams had been shot in the head and chest.... See the rest of the story at the link below

You roll that dice often enough, your number will come up eventually.
You would think that sooner or later these guys would wise up.

If they have a weapon and you pull yours it isn't time to hesitate.

That was my thought as well Terry. While we can't be certain of the exact circumstances here, if I drew my weapon on two robbers who already had their guns in plain sight, it would not be to say "put down your guns ... get on the floor & wait for the cops to get here", as they both could have very easily turned and started shooting at this guy (and those around him). It would have been a different story IMHO if they were armed with knives, bats, or just saying that they had guns.

I personally think that he was very lucky that these bad guys were not expecting to actually have to use their guns to complete this robbery. If they had been, I think that the outcome may have been very different.

If I pull mine I'm using it. If the situation doesn't warrant shootin' it doesn't warrant pulling. Of course I say that in the comfort of my home sipping a cup of coffee. In the real world I might do otherwise.
