Depends on how badly you needed the gun when it fails.

No room for a recoil spring. He wraps rubber bands between the back of the slide and the front of the trigger guard.

He calls it the" Trojan".

Re: Silly little detail question

stress and peening issues is something i have been following with the ruger sr9 series........

i really like the feel of that weapon and its features....but have read reports of slide/barrel peen issues.....hopefully they have it worked out. i even emailed ruger and talked to the head man about it.

Re: Silly little detail question

Wow, good info. I don't top off my magazines, even six round officer's mags. I don't know why, been doing it that way for years. I do occasionally rotate rounds through the magazine, so the same round doesn't go through too many loading cycles. I have seen coal shorten from repeated unloading and loading.

Re: Silly little detail question

I number my mags and I rotate them every month . Even number on even months and every 3 or 4 months I put fresh ammo in mags and gun and shoot the old ammo at the next time I shoot my gun .
