Deputy, I can't disagree with any point you made...I've carried both revolver (SP-101), and bottom loader...for me, it's the bottom loader.....

I shot a box stock Detonic 3 1/2 barrel with a trigger job and held a record for many years .... With my back to the plates , turn and draw and knock six 6" plates down in under 4 seconds at 15 yds ... So all my guns I won matches with are not special race guns . .

Wizard.... I really love your gun ....

Re: Revolvers Rule!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

i did see some lightening speed when i got my tail kicked at the uspsa match i went to here awhile back.......no one showed up with revolvers and i can see why in that game.

i won't dispute the many admirable traits that bottom feeders have......but for me, the confidence lies with the revolver.....

now as far as fast folks, do ya'll remember this old episode from miami vice? they brought in a champion for this shot. The spas 12 was nice, but what he did with the handgun was not movie magic, it was real. check out the slow motion.....

Re: Revolvers Rule!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

...you're starting to sound silly, pal...if I fire 5 or 6 rounds, he won't be holding a 3x4 anymore...'cause I won't be shooting blanks into a target...get real...if you can't stop two with 5...you don't need a gun...you need to start over...you're counting on a reload being necessary...in real, documented shootings, more than 5 shots is hardly ever required...but that's real life, not competition...quit concentrating on the reload so much and count on making your first load...5..6...or 17 count...you're NOT making the point against the revolver...it's the most instinctive, reliable, effective for anyone not highly trained...grab it and growl...

Re: Revolvers Rule!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

You missed the point . 7 bad guys , 6 shooter gun , 15 yds you will NEVER get to reload a wheel gun . I had to deal with street gangs in Philly in the 70's , Drive to east LA for supply and deal with drunk indians in the back country in Ca in the 80's and the biker's in Az in the 90's . I guess the Drugster in Tx is next . A wheel gun for CCW is not for me .....

Re: Revolvers Rule!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

...oh, I see...I never did deal with such large numbers of opponents...I led a sheltered life...and the fact that I carried a backup of 5 to my 6 means I missed so much fun...could have taken on 11 all by myself...I guess Iver Johnson does beat my revolvers...what's that...8 shots? I think it's safe to say that your liking autos best puts more revolvers out there for old farts like me who love 'em...thankyouberry much...now I gotta go watch out for one brave sumbich with a 2x4 and just hope he can't count...so I can pull a Clint Eastwood on him...your experiences do validate why I've always carried 4 clips, though...there're a lotta mean herds out there...

I'm not a good debater and lack the way with words and the skills to get my point across I guess to where people understand on what I'm saying . I feel like the guy who is in a leaky boat who punches a hole in the bottom of the boat to leave water out and the more hole I punch in the bottom boat the faster the water run in .

Re: Revolvers Rule!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

I was just reading the February edition of American Rifleman while sitting on the pot today. Usually I browse gunnerforum on my Blackberry while on the throne, but went for a change of pace today. They had a review of several current .380 pistols for CCW. It reminded me of why I love revolvers. 8 of the 9 guns had some sort of failure. You just don't get that frequency with a wheel gun. To be fair, he said that they were all new, and recommends that you cycle 200 rounds before you press a gun in to service, but I will stick with my wheel guns thank you very much.

I hope the "pace" wasn't a trot.

I have had both autos and revolvers malfunction, even Ruger SAs. While feed failures are probably more common on autos I would note that most auto failures could be cleared quickly by hand, while the revolvers usually required tools, time, and disassembly. They were often not fixable at the range, much less in action. I would probably agree that a revolver is more reliable if conditions are clean, but I would not trust either without proving them and would feel comfortable trusting my life to either once so proven.

In a holster size gun like the K frame S&W or a compact service auto I might lean toward the revolver but in the most concealable class I find a compact auto like the Kahr to offer substantially better performance than a J frame or it's equivalent. I just can not hide a K frame under a tee shirt and don't have the control and performance I want with a J frame using controllable loads. It may well work better for others but for me the way I most often dress requires a J frame or a flat auto like the Kahr, and the J frame is a healthy step down. I certainly do not feel unarmed with a J frame but I find my confidence in it's performance is diminishing and I feel more comfortable with a .40 S&W auto and an extra magazine.
