Re: "mexican carry"

...seems like the man did not know his weapon very well...this is the primary reason I won't carry a Glock or other "safe action" triggered gun without a holster which covers the trigger guard...too easy to fire...one careless moment and not only he'll miss the dance, he reminds me of the guy who accidentally got shot with a shotgun down there...upon his release from the hospital, the Dr. wrote down a name and number and gave it to him...said "She'll help you out..."...the man asked if she was a physical therapist...the Dr. said "No, she teaches the wind instruments over at the high school...she'll teach you where to hold your fingers so you don't pee all over yourself..."

Re: "mexican carry"

I always use a holster, unless I pocket carry my LCP. Which I haven't done without a holster in a very long time.

Re: "mexican carry"

I frequently carry a gun without a holster. It works well. I prefer to use a holster for most circumstances. I don't stuff guns in my pants in such a way that my willy is in danger. Guns will almost never go off without the trigger being pulled. Me thinks there is more to the story and hopefully after the man recovers from his injuries, we will learn what happened.

Re: "mexican carry"

...I used to carry the Hi-Power and the Combat Commander mexican style but hammer down on a live round...not cocked and locked...I think I was stupid to do that if I understand that neither had a block of any kind (70s Model C.Cmdr.)...carrying IWB clip holsters there's never a need for me not to use one...and the security of the gun not shifting should I run (fat chance of THAT happening) is the payoff...with a good DA/SA trigger...I'd feel plenty safe...just not the short, light pulls of a Glock or XD...I want those triggers covered by a leather holster...

Re: "mexican carry"

I totally agree with you SD....I always carry in a holster....if the trigger is covered, then the gun is less likely to fire because of an AD.....

Re: "mexican carry"

I post this before ... I have a 5lbs trigger on my Kahr and a 3.5 lbs on my Glock and I tried to get them to fire reholstering them . Stuffing tee shirts and stuff in trigger open and jamming gun in holster . I play a couple of hours trying to make them fire . The only way to make them fire is to pull the trigger with your finger . The rest is BS ...

Re: "mexican carry"

Re: "mexican carry"

There must be 50 video of people trying to get a Glock trigger to fire without pulling the trigger , so far NO one done it yet . http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ygcfp40R ... re=related they thrown them out airplane , off barns , and pulled behind trucks . I put a 3.5 lbs on my gun and I tried 10 different ways to get it fire without pulling the trigger . Like I said it is all BS till someone show me how to do it . Then I will make a steel cup for my willy

Re: "mexican carry"

I have seen nothing indicating what this guy was carrying. Too many unknowns to speculate much. It could have been a revolver. I rather suspect something cocked and locked became unlocked and uncocked, shortly before he did. (sorry).

Re: "mexican carry"

I think carrying a DA pistol is just as safe as carrying a revolver. keep your booger hook off the trigger and all will be well.

Re: "mexican carry"

i've seen my share of AD's over the years by officers and civilians.......

lets see.....
one officer self inflicted re holstering a revolver
one officer AD with revolver shot building
one officer AD with 1911 in struggle with suspect
one officer AD with sks parking lot
officer AD shot lightbar with 1911
officer AD ruger p85mkii forgit loaded
prison guards passing shotgun AD shot 3rd guard

civilians.....
AD lost thumb with derringer
AD wantabe quick draw artist shot in leg
AD disassembly with glock shot himself
AD 1911 brotherinlaw shot wife
AD 30-06 killed friend
AD glock forgot loaded
AD revolver shot man
AD shotgun shot foot

......................and probably a dozen or so more i can't remember at the moment.......

Any gun can AD.......especially the "unloaded" ones......

Still, i'd like to hedge against murphy's law.........so 1911's, hi power's, glocks are carried empty chamber by me if "mexican carry" is the choice.

Re: "mexican carry"

Most of your list belongs to those that didn't pay attention. With the exception of the officer struggling with a suspect. Far too many people want to handle guns of any type and don't treat them like they are loaded. All guns are always loaded, no execptions.
