When I was in my late teens I had an opportunity to buy a minty one at a gun show in Louisville for $250. Unfortunately at the time I didn't have the cash to make the purchase though my buddy who went with me ended up getting an SKS so one of us had a good day. Anyhow I thought I'd share some links regarding the tried and true Detective Special for those of you out there who like or love this particular revolver. ;D http://www.guncollectorsclub.com/detective.htm http://www.gunsandammo.com/content/colt ... ve-special http://jamesazacharyjr.blogspot.com/200 ... ecial.html |

I had an older version back in the 60s, never liked it much, traded it for a 2-3/4" Security Six, not as pocket friendly but a shooter.

i had one back in the 80's and traded it for a model 38 airweight bodyguard for pocket carry......probably should had kept it, but then...like now....i was in more of a "need" than a "want"......... gun trading...takes care of the short term, but creates regret in the long term.... |

The Colt DS will just plain SHOOT!!!! Get to spend some time preiodically with an old "first model", well-worn both inside and out, but smooth as glass. Just gives ya' a feeling of being well-armed, regardless of where you are... If one stumbles "your way" and you possibly can, GRAB IT!! You'll become very fond of it. |
