Move Over Judge & Make Way For The Governor

Apparently S&W has finally decided the time was right to release their own .45 Colt/ .410 revolver, although this one shoots .45 ACP also and is a six shooter.

Re: Move Over Judge & Make Way For The Governor

the "judge" is a popular firearm around here and is the one taurus that all the gunshops in the two big cities close to me seem to carry. They all might not carry a pt92, or a taurus 24/7......but they all seem to have a "judge" on display and they say it is a best seller when it comes to taurus.

That’s the way it seems to be around my place also, see nothing of the other Taurus handguns.

They sure seem to be popular but I think they are heavy and unballanced.

The 410 makes a good snake gun , but testing it on 1 gal water bottles it sucks as a defence gun pass 10 yds . A 45ACP shot in a 410 chamber is got to be a joke , the fps lost is got to be super high as the bullet wobbles down the chamber since it can't seal . It failed in my Bond and it don't have a air gap between cylinder to barrel and a longer barrel to boot . I used rubber "O" to keep the case against firing pin instead of moon clips which will work on the Judge too .

I dislike the look and feel of the judge, same is true for smith's copy. The stupid lock does not deter me from new smiths. However, their price sure does.

Never been a fan of the judge. Now if a feller was to ream that barrel out so it was a smooth bore, so the darn thing could hold a shot pattern, then you would have something. Of course that would be illegal, so, well, yeah, I guess that's out.

The rifling in short barrels [ under 6" ] don't seem to bother the pattern . The 2 1/2" pattern far better then the 3" in my Bond . In my 357 6" or 8" 686 SW with capsules pattern good at 1000 fps , anything faster is super bad with lots of holes .
