I have been carrying this quite a bit lately. I got this when I turned 21. I ordered some grip inserts from 41magnum just before last deer season. He calls them charcoal dyed grey maple. I really like how they look on the gun. ![]() ![]() I think that material would look great on my vaquero, so when I save up enough I am going to order a set from Jim. It will look much better than my plastic ivory grips that are installed now. |

...those grip panels look great...do you shoot a lot of full house .357 in it? How does it compare with a Kframe .357 as far as comfortable shooting full house???

I can't compare to a K-frame myself. I can say that my SP (which has a shorter bbl than b.roberts) is perfectly comfortable to shoot my very hot hand loads through ... until about the third straight cylinder. The pain starts slowly and then starts getting angry at being ignored by about the 5th cylinder. I have not gotten past 5 cylinders of my hot hand loads in the newly beloved SP. Now, I could shoot it all day with my milder reloads, and I suspect the my new Pachys will give me a bit more comfort with full loads. I hope to find out the answer to that next weekend. |

sheepdog, it recoils significantly more than the kframe smith. My sp101 weighs in at around 25oz. Can't get around the physics. It is the only snubnosed 5shot .357 that I have shot that was controlable and accurate. I have shot taurus and smith, steel frame and lightweights. They simply were not usable with full snort .357's.(for me, ymmv)

an sp101 is a pleasure to shoot compared to a J frame...............though i still wish ruger would had done a light weight version of the sp instead of the radical different LCR......... But the LCR is the one in most demand.....adapt or die...........and i am slowly dieing........ |

...I could shoot my stainless Bodyguard as much as I wanted without pain...(.38)...but I shot an airweight Model 12 2" 10 rounds back in the day and have refused to shoot a light-framed since...real steel and stainless for my snubs...I'm a sissy...hate that pain...

s&w model 12's are nice....................... briefly owned a 4" tapered barrel model but it had hair-line fracture in the frame that i soon discovered after purchase.......gun gave rotational problems if she warmed up............had to part ways..............my understanding is that was a rather common failing on the 12............. |

Those grips are GORGEOUS! I especially like the way they look in the second picture. You're a man with classy taste Mr. B. Roberts. |

Thanks all, Jim has talent and very reasonable prices. I can't wait until I can do the same with my vaquero. |
