Armscor Revolvers

Everyone seems to know Armscor for their 1911s but does anyone here have experience with their revolvers? The M200 and M206 are both models that have caught my attention and seem to be very inexpensive, around $200 - $250 from what I've seen on www.gunbroker.com and sometimes less than that. From what I gather they're produced on old Colt machinery and the M206 is a takeoff of the Detective Special. They look like they'd be great project guns, especially for Cerakoting which is something I've been thinking about doing or having done to some of my own firearms.

I don't, but they can't be any worse than a Rossi revolver. Can they?

A friend of mine had a four inch one and couldn't get it to group in a bushel basket at twenty feet in a complete vacuumn. He found someone who couldn't live without it.

IMHO, yes, they are worse than a Rossi. We sell them, and I always try to talk them out of it!

Re: Armscor Revolvers

The Colt DA revolvers were designed for manufacture by skilled operators with considerable hand fitting and finishing by skilled craftsmen. It just does not lend itself to third world copying. A newer design like the Ruger Security Six or a design like the 1911 would be more likely to come out serviceable. A design like the Colt revolver or a Luger auto is just not suited for economy manufacture without a complete re-engineering, in which case you might as well take advantage of a century of progress and design a gun better suited to economical manufacture.

It is like using a time machine to take some WW2 fighters back to WW1. The technology of the time could not produce the tight tolerance parts needed to service the engines and those engines could not run on what passed for gasoline back then. The early jets would be easier to keep flying back then as they run on kerosene.

Re: Armscor Revolvers

Maybe I'd just be better off finding an old Rossi instead.

Better off with a old Six Series Ruger, if you can find one at a decent price. That Service Six I bought a bit ago I got for $250. Wouldn't trade that gun for 6 Armscor's or Rossi's!
