SP101

First time out with it since the "bullets in the barrel" problem a few weeks ago. Gun works fine , Shot about 30 rounds of +P 38SP a mixure of 38sp different loads. As usual for me the group was shall we say, high wide and not too handsome. shot about half of then double action and half Single action. The were on the 8 1/2 X11 paper at least at 50 ft.
Going to fudge a little and put results of My 357 BH on here to. Now that gun is fun to shoot regardlsees of what you put in it. Got out a few of my deer loads from 1994 . Win case 158 gr., Hornady semijacked HP powder was 2400. Dont hav e the box in front of me but I think it was 18 1/2 grains. Any way it put down the only deer I ever shot at with them.
I have reloads with several different powders but I'm thinking of sticking with the 158 gr Tennessee Valley fairly soft SWC and Universal powder. That makes a nice shooting cartridge. in 38SP or 357 Mag. Leading today was very minimal.
Any way a good time was had by all as I was the only one using the range. I went to the state DNR range this time, located in Mongo In. on the Pidgeon River Wild Life area.
That is located 19 miles north of me and the Izzak Walton range is 22 miles south of me. Sure do miss living in the country.

Re: SP101

Glad to hear the SP101 is all fine. The BH, and all SA revolvers, are fun, fun, fun! The only one I have left is my Vaquero in 45Colt. I do love it though.

This is the only pic of my SP101 I have . The gun is built like a tank and I don't think you can break it . The there was only 2 things I didn't like about . I spent a ton of time and money on the trigger and never got it where I was happy . I got a S&W 642 and out of the box the trigger was better then the SP101 after all the work was done on it and the 642 weight 20 ozs loaded and the 101 was 26 ozs empty .

6oz. more for a better built gun weights not a issue for me, my SP101 has a real good trigger pull.

My 642 is my house gun and I carry it over 15 hours a day in my house and it 6 oz lighter LOADED then a EMPTY 101 . The 101 trigger after springs and 3 hrs of polishing don't a candle to box stock 642 . That is why I sold it . My Glock 27 is too heavy to carry around the house all day and it is 2 oz lighter LOADED to EMPTY 101 plus it only has a 3.5 lbs trigger . The 101 I carried it on my farm on my tractor . 1st 2 loads were snake load I had alot Cottonmouth around my pond and it love the snake loads and did a number on snakes . Here is the way I carry in house

My 3" SP101 is perhaps my favorite J frame-sized revolver as it handles like a much larger gun.

at 14 yards with speer gold dot 125 loads

Thanks, their from Sack Peterson and mine are actually pictured on his site (mine are the top right). The SP101 is one of the few revolver that I like the feel of the factory grip, but they look awful with the plastic inserts. The stag inserts allow me to have a functional grip that looks much better. Plus the screw is recessed and not poking into my hand like on the factory inserts.
