options for refinishing alloy

my armscor revolver has an alloy frame, although it shoots great and works well overall, the finish in some places has worn off. It looks as though it was just painted at the factory and has no real blueing. Can anyone tell me if i can blue the alloy like a steel gun? If so is there differences in steps? Or should i just paint it? So any opinions or advice? Never had this question before, first real alloy frame ive had and decided to hold on to.

here is an armscor firearms board........revolver section

http://armscor.proboards.com/index.c...=revolverstalk

as i understand it, the admin on this board is an actual armscor representive.

perhaps a question there might help.........

who knows...........if it is an "alloy steel", then perhaps any of the cold blue treatments may work..........then again?????

G96 gun blue cream is a good inexpensive place to start if you want to experiment. brownells 4440 and oxpho-blue are good also. Lay the gun in the sun for a few hours on a hot day and apply to the warm steel...it helps.

aluminum alloy.............birchwood casey aluminum black... http://sport.birchwoodcasey.com/Fini...a-8820790beefb

paint is not a bad idea..........have known several folks who "duracoat" firearms....... http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/sid=4...000989_d_11470

looking forward to hearing some shooting reports on the armscor.

thanx for the links though im gonna try the g96 gun blue cream and see wat results i get. duracoat is my last option, but still an option based on how the other things go. Any advice on how to safely and effectively warm up a gun in the winter to apply it now, maybe a hair drier. I figure shootin it is outta the question because bluing a dirty gun dont sound too effective.

Duracoat with the shake and spray kit was my suggestion but looks like you are have a good handle on things.

He's a link to a guy that did it on another forum:
