Dan Wesson question

Well, it has been a while since I put anything on lay a way. There is one gun that is calling my name. Got a Dan Wesson .41 Magnum, stainless, 4 inch barrel in at work the other day. Been trying to jew the boss down on it some, but so far no luck. Wants $389 for it. Now, I have owned many a double action revolver, but never a Dan Wesson. It sure seems a well built gun, and I like to have both a double and single action revolver for every caliber I reload for. You guessed it, the only think I don't have is a DA .41 Mag. So, any of you guys have any experience with these? I have heard quality was hit and miss with them, and I would say parts are impossible to get now. What say you?

...it is...they are...but folks what own 'em love 'em...it's a good Chevy but it'll never be a Cadillac...the cost of a S&W M57 will hurt you a lot worse...it's a shooter and won't likely ever be a collectible...do you want to set up for another caliber would be my bottom line question...

I have no personal experience with the DW, but I loves the 41.

Thats the same with me. Posted this same question on a couple other forums and got lots of mixed reviews on Dan Wesson.

Re: Dan Wesson question

Well, called the boss this morning and told him to put it on lay a way for me. Got him down to $375. Every time I think I am going to quit buying freaking guns I see another one I think I can't live without. Swore I was just gonna stock up on reloading stuff. Dang it.

Congratulations on your new purchase.

Re: Dan Wesson question

as far as the DW is concerned..........most of my experiences with them shooting .22's and 38's indicate that they are extremely accurate in SA mode as in competition accurate.....but the DA mode is not exacly up to smith or even ruger standards in smoothness and feel....

the cylinder relaease was a bit awkard for me as well......

Re: Dan Wesson question

Well, I took some ammo to work and shot the gun. Had two light primer strikes in DA mode. Decided not to buy this one. Didn't need it anyway.

Re: Dan Wesson question

you can always shop around for a smith model 57 or model 58................

if you hunt real hard you can find a 41 redhawk.

You know, I used to have one of the Smiths (whichever had the adjustable sights, it's early!). Like an idiot, I sold it.
