When folks talk about "polishing the slide rail" for smoother cycling what is this process, and can it be done by myself? My Rail on the RIA is a bit tough to rack back than most guns. What is the BEST slide lube?

I just use break free or whatever I happen to have at the time of cleaning. Work the slide a lot. It'll loosen up. Mine all did. You could put some jewelers rouge, I think it is, in the grooves and then work it. Should polish it right up. You can also use Flitz.

be careful polishing...........you can't put the metal back on. might i suggest flitz and patience. as far as lube for an auto, for me if it "slides" it gets grease, if it "pivots" it gets oil.......... |

...might try some Gun Butter before you use an abrasive that might remove finish...
