this pay day, gonna try a spring swap on my smith 642 looking at wolff http://www.gunsprings.com/index.cfm?...D=3&mID=58#441 and apex which also offers a different firing pin with their spring kit https://apextactical.com/store/produ...php?pid49.html |

The 642 is harder to tune then a hammered 'J' model . The lighter hammer spring not a good idea in most guns , but 642 needs the heavy spring to nail the primers because of the extra light hammer . I had trouble with the lighter rebound spring also in my 642 with the MIM parts not returning as fast as I liked even after a super polish job inside . Let me know how yours turns out Deputy . I have set of Wolff spring for my 642 I tryed and didn't like , which I will save for my next Smith .

that is why i am also looking hard at the more expensive apex kit as it includes a change in the firing pin itself............ apex does offer some brand new good ole' solid real metal parts to replace the MIM parts.............but for the prices... |
