Ruger manuals now parts number-less
Odd change I noticed a few days back. Ruger's owner's manuals no longer show parts numbers. Each part has a number tying it to the exploded drawing, and a name, but no part number.
I was comparing the SP to the Six series using the online manuals, and noticed it. Then I went and got the paper manual from my new SP. No parts numbers there, either. Luckily, I copied the online manual when I got the .22 SP, it had numbers then, and the paper manual has numbers.
No wonder the CS rep seemed confused that I was giving her parts numbers a couple of weeks back.
Besides ordering parts, I find the numbers useful in other ways. Like, the cylinder latch spring and the pawl spring in an SP are the same part. Wouldn't know that without seeing the numbers match. There are three plungers that are all part number KE-57. The trigger plunger and spring are the same in the Bearcat and the 10/22. The .357 SP and 357 LCR use the same firing pin, spring, and retainer.

I will be in the Gun Shop tomorrow and will take a look at a few owners manuals and see what they show.
I can say this, Ruger is producing plastic rifles now. They are the American series. Very inexpensive but fair shooters. I guess this is what people want.
