I need suggestions for some simple way to hold a revolver while cleaning and working on it. Something along the lines of the basic rifle stand. Any pictures of what you use that could be plagarized would be appreciated. Right now I just lay the gun down on the Remington bench cover but need something that will keep the gun steady. Screwed up and put this on the CCW thread first. |

Chance I use a small hobby vise that I got a Sears. It works great. It will stick to table tops via suction by flipping a small lever.

on the other side of things, i have seen some various black powder revolver reloading and cleaning stands here and there. did a search and ran across this home-made one. Designed as adjustable and looks like you could clean a snub on up to a hog leg with it......... http://www.auctionarms.com/search/displ ... um=8882679 | |

That's a nice little stand. Did you make that or buy it? I haven't found anything like it around here.

It is a copy of a cap 'n ball revolver loading stand, where the revolver it stood on it's butt, with the barrel pointing straight up. I made mine, with a hinge to fold in half - but I've also made some with unglued dowels, so it could be pulled apart into two pieces. For those not so inclined, nor handy, DGW sells a similar one for $15: http://www.dixiegunworks.com/popup_image.php?pID=7768 |
