Help!! My cylinder is full of lead

I shot some cheap led ammo in my S&W model 19. The inside of the cylinder chambers is coated with lead.

Will shooting some jacketed ammo clean out?

Is there an easy way to clean the stuff off ?

Hoppes and a good copper brush, enclosed in cloth......

What wizard said. I've been told not to shoot jacketed bullets after fouling becasue it increases chamber pressure. Just clean it up and you'll be good to go.

lots of elbow grease and a good brush with hoppe's,

or for severe cases, a lewis lead remover which is a set of small bronze screens over a rubber plunger that pushes/scrubs the lead out................

If it is really, really bad, the Lewis Lead Remover from Brownells will get the lead out. Great tool to have.

Leading can't be shot out and will only end up ruining your gun. Wouldn't hurt to let the Hopies soak a while, Lewis lead remover is a must if you shoot any type of lead bullets.

Re: Help!! My cylinder is full of lead

It also helps tremendously to use Chamber Brushes instead of Bore Brushes on your cylinders. But don't use them in the barrel.
