New magazine for the P90

Ordered a new Ruger mag from Midway. It was supposed to be out of stock but received it in 4 days. It has the metal follower. My original or the one that came with the gun has the plastic (or hard fiber ) follower. One of the forums
had some discussion about the followers giving problems. I think it was the plastic one?

Re: New magazine for the P90

I belive it's the metal ones giving the problem. They can slide forward and nick the frame. I replaced mine with Wilson springs and followers, and so fare they have been working fine in my guns but I don’t have a high round count through them at this time.

...Danny, did you drop back to 7 rds when you went to the Wilson kit??? I like the metal ones 'cause they give you 8...I haven't heard of either one causing a FTF...

No, I’m still at 8 rds. As for the FTF no, but have heard the last rd fail to eject.

Re: New magazine for the P90

...so far, all my P97 and P90 mags have been flawless...traded my 7-rounders to my son and all mine are 8s now...I think I have 19 or 20...now I'm itchin' to get to the range...
...I did read of someone having a problem with the metal follower tipping...and it was that after cleaning, they'd not gotten it back on the spring right...that's a little tricky to do...

Re: New magazine for the P90

The metal follower will gouge a place in the Frame under the feed ramp on the P90's. On the P97
Ruger put a little Stainless Steel stop under the ramp to keep it from gouging the Polymer.

Re: New magazine for the P90

i still like the old ruger 7 rd mags..........

for what it is worth, i still see a few reports here and there of the current 8 rd ruger mags damageing the p90's when that metal follower slips forward....

if i go down that road again it will be with wilson followers......they seem cheap enough especially considering preventing potential damage to the frame.
