Bushnell Red Dots

Anyone have any experience with the Bushnell Trophy red dots scope? I can't decide if I want to go with one of them or the Burris fast fire. Which one would you guys recommend for hunting/shtf/just for fun? I want a multiple use scope, but I'm not sure which would work better. Here's a link to each on ebay.

Re: Bushnell Red Dots

I have used a Millett red dot and found myself closing one eye like I do with a regular scope, with the reflex type its easer for me to keep them both open. Use a reflex on my bow and two guns. jmho

Re: Bushnell Red Dots

Yeah the Bushnell would be used with one eye closed, but I don't know if that really makes a huge difference. The Bushnell would still get on target pretty quick I think. But it looks like one vote for the Burris.

Re: Bushnell Red Dots

No not really, I have the hand gun scope on the scout and like it just playing around with it here at home.
Both eyes open on low power is no problem and on high power I go for one eye. The Burris reflex are on hand guns and I want both eyes open, the bow has a BSA reflex and yep you get what you pay for. The Burris base with the protective wings is $65.00 witch I thing is way to much. What I did not like about Millett was the eyepiece was to small for my ageing eyes. The EOTech has the best dot size in my opinion.

Re: Bushnell Red Dots

I really liked the Eotech I had, but it's bigger than what I want. I know the Bushnell is as bigger, or slightly bigger, but I'll mount the Bushnell like I would a regular scope. The Burris would be mounted scout style.

Re: Bushnell Red Dots

Does the Bushnell use 1" rings? The Mini came with a set of rings, but I don't know if they will work with the Bushnell or not.

Re: Bushnell Red Dots

The Ruger rings should work if the Bushnell is long enough.
The Ruger rings are most likely medium rings so they mite be a bit high.

Re: Bushnell Red Dots

The rings are marked, 5KHM. I don't know if they are mediums or what. The Bushnell should be long enough though. I could get a mount like what's used on the M1A if I go with the Bushnell if I need to. They are pretty cheap.

Re: Bushnell Red Dots

Those are the high rings, Ruger will exchange them for the size you need, no charge except for shipping the old ones back. Give them a call. 4KHM is the medium ones and I see they make no low ones for your gun.

Re: Bushnell Red Dots

Well good to know. I'm leaning towards the Burris on the scout rail I think. I have no idea when I'll actually get the damn rail though.

Re: Bushnell Red Dots

Get one of these for the Burris and you wouldn’t need the rail.

Re: Bushnell Red Dots

They don't have them in stock, because I talked directly to Ultimak and they don't even have them finished yet, so I'm sure their dealers won't get them until after that.

What's with that mount? Does that attach like the Ruger rings to the Mini? It works with the Burris, and I'd just have to change mounts? Or buy a Burris without a mount?

Re: Bushnell Red Dots

Yes it attaches like Ruger rings, the pic is upside down, when on a gun it looks like this.

Re: Bushnell Red Dots

I like that, but 2 of the reviews say that it doesn't get tight enough on the mini. I also found this. It was mentioned in one of the reviews, but I like the one you have much better.

I ordered the Burris.

Re: Bushnell Red Dots

I ordered it. I looked around for the best price and the link you gave me was the cheapest, but the highest shipping. There were none under $50+ with shipping.

Re: Bushnell Red Dots

Well shipping ranged from $4 to $15. The difference was the price of the stupid mount. They all added up to over $50 anyway. I paid $52 for the one I ordered.

Did you use any locktite or anything to secure yours? It looks like it wouldn't hold real well under that kind of recoil. I wish I still worked in the damn machine shop. I could make a nice one for nothing.
