Have you ever tried these? Smaller than the Hogues, cover the back strap, and work great. I love them. Cheap too for the quality. http://www.gunpartscorp.com/catalog/Det ... ps&catid=0 |

No, I haven't tried those. I don't see how they could be smaller than Hogues though if they cover the backstrap!

The Hogues are too big for me and these fit nice. I think they don't go as far forward as the Hogues. For under $20 shipped They can't be beat, imo.

I didn't think that you posted both your 44's and neither was a Redhawk. My local has a S&W just like yours. It's used and was a little more than the Ruger. I passed on it, cause the barrel is a little longer than I like. Plus I'm hoping that the Redhawk turns out to be an unstoppable tank. |

That Smith 629 is without a doubt the most accurate .44 Magnum I have ever owned. And, it fits my hand better than any I have owned (which could very well be why it is so accurate!) I would have rather had a 4 inch barrel, but all I am gonna do with it is punch holes in paper and shoot steel targets, so it aint no big deal. The Super Blackhawk is accurate as well, but that 629 is one gun I will never trade or sell, unless it is a have to case. I love Rugers, always have, and always will. But, as I said over on rugerforum, the Redhawk just does not fit my hand as well, and the Super Redhawk is just too dang big and ugly. If Ruger would make the Redhawk with a grip stud like the Super Redhawk, where you could tailor the grips to your hand, it would be an awesome gun indeed. It would be even better if they would make the lockwork the same as the Super RH/GP100 as well. I have wrote them asking for such a critter. No dice so far.

I like the Redhawk grips so much better than the GP or Super's. |
