i think i am starting to like plastic......holsters that is. i have really been impressed with the blackhawk serpa level 3 duty holster.............to the point i am considering a serpa for my j-frame smith and perhaps an off duty paddle style for the sig........... plastic....who would of thunk it? |

I don't like them at all. If it works for you I say go for it. I like leather, and once in a blue moon, nylon, but the plastic holsters suck, imo. |

I have two paddle holsters, a Galco aod Blackhawk, don't like either, too chubby, prefer my Simply Rugged Pancakes for all my guns, have on of his Range holsters also for my Sig but definetly not concealable.

My secondary holster for the SP is the Evolution Paddle Holster by Fobus (http://www.fobusholster.com/products...R-712-116.html). I use it on occasion for one of two reasons: 1. As a clip on paddle holster, it is quick to put on. It is very secure once on, but if am not yet holstered and want to get out the door more quickly, it works well 2. It is easy to get the gun in and out of it. My preferred carry holster (simply rugged) takes a bit more care to reholster. I will use the Fobus sometimes when I go to the range if I expect to be holstering and re-holstering my weapon often. The down side? It carries a little lower and further away from my body than the leather holster. If I were not concerned about concealment, I would probably switch to a holster like this, but I prefer concealed carry even though open carry is legal here. |

The only time I consider plastic holsters is if I am going to be outside in the yard sweating like a mule. One thing I have to admit about the plastic holsters, sweat don't bother em none!

...for uniformed carry...with a retention device built-in OK...for OC like a man working a gunstore...fast and easy on and off and to draw...for concealed on the belt...I would...for IWB in front where I carry...never...need the leather or nylon for comfort...just my old fart opinions...never owned but one and it wasn't as Uncle Mike promised so I sent it back...

this serpa level 3 really is nice......... very secure yet still lighting fast on the draw without having to rock like my safriland 70SSIII................no twisting like some others, and a difficult thumb break to reach for anyone other than the user. Just as fast to re-holster to free up the hand.......and still locked in if no time to apply the thumb break. dang thing though is noisy on a fast draw or re-holster..............but that is an attention getter for sure. i can quietly draw it if i slow down. |

Will this be an on duty holster, Deputy, or for carry?

I use a Serpa every day with an XD, the only complaint I have is that it sticks out a ways and I bang it into stuff if I'm not careful. As tough as it is, my boys can fight over it after I'm gone. It's lightning fast to draw, much faster than my leather and impervious to all things, natural and man made. I guess you could say I like it. Molon Labe Kim |

my serpa 3 is my current duty holster and all the things kim said are spot-on. mine is on a "hanger" of sorts and affords a jacket slot for when i need such............down-side is it also affords a seat belt and can catch the seat belt on this duty rig. i really need the paddle more for the sig probably and keep the "J" frame in the pocket where it belongs. |

I have a few, don't like them, and use them frequently. They are ugly, and they work well...kind of like a glock.

Kim is absolutely correct....I have a Serpa for my XD45 and one for my Norc 1911.....The Norc rides ok, but the XD does tip out too far. I do prefer leather, though....in fact, I'm thinking about a slide holster for the XD......

When they arrested my friend for having a open carry at obummers election campane in Beaver PA. They could not get his gun out of his holster. It was one that was made so no 1 can take your piece from you and it worked. He has a glock 20 something. He had to take it out for them.Ill find out what it is,but it looks plastic. All ya he won his trile and got his glock back. |
