Sure it's nice to be able to go online and order all the latest, greatest, "tacticool" pieces of equipment out,
This from the man that just hung the "tacticool" triple rack on his M-1A ? Some people don't have any tactical gingerbread at all on their rifles. Or plumbing.

No offense intended. To each his own.

Now stop whining and go shoot, and tell us how the new gear works.

The rail is so that I can use an optic. I don't like the look, but it makes the gun better, by allowing me more options. If the rail wasn't an option, I'd use the iron sites. If I was able to make a rail out of some junk I have around the house that worked, guess what?

So tell us how it works. That is one of the best red dots out there. Have you shot it yet?

Re: M1A Cheek Rest

At my former shop we did make rails. A local company made rails for different guns and we were making them for a while. We made them better and for less money then they could do it in house. Once they learned from us they did it themselves again. My partner was the best production CNC programmer I ever saw.

Re: M1A Cheek Rest

I had the Eotech mounted last time I shot the gun and the brass was hitting it. That's why I had to move it forward on the gun. The brass would hit the scope and then jam the gun. Not real good. I didn't sight in the Eotech, because I was shooting with the irons and just getting familiar with the gun. I haven't had a chance to take it out since. I like the scout rail set up better. It looks better, but it is just enough rail to do what I need. The one I got was cheap. That's why it's on the gun. For $65 it'll do the same thing as a $165 set up.
