Re: The G19

Mine is treated like a four way screw driver that you may need on the go. My tools in my shop are much higher quality and much more pleasurable to use. I care for them much more and spend more money for them.

You can get a Skill saw from a chain hardware store for less than $50. I prefer a Makita and pay much more. They handle much better, last much longer and I take much more care of them. I use a flee market bought skil saw for tearing into roofing shingles or demolition tasks and don't worry about dropping it off a roof.

The wear and scrathes on the plastic gun is of no concern to me. I have no pride in ownership of the Glock. My 1911 is kept in a rug with extra magazines and would take several more seconds to get to. The Glock is a convenience.

Re: The G19

I decided on the Glock because it's light weight and easy to hide. I was surprised at how well it handled. It stays on target real well, and is pretty damn accurate. I like the XD line too. Striker fired guns are ok with me.

Re: The G19

...having shot both...can you compare the trigger on the XD to the Glock??? I've shot the Glock 22 I had, but never fired an XD...are they real similar???

Re: The G19

They are very similiar in my opinion. Maybe that's why I like the way the Glock shoots. I was already familiar with the trigger style.

Re: The G19

...I've held the hicap XD .45 when they first came out...fits my paw real well...just wouldn't work with the way I carry...can't trust that trigger style unless I'm using a hard-formed belt holster...I'd even keep it in a holster in the truck...that trigger is easily tripped...

Re: The G19

the one thing i dislike about springfield xd series is spare parts...........most factory parts they play it tight and seem to want the gun returned. ruger use to be just as bad but they seem to have loosened up a bit.

glock..............everything that i have read seems to indicate they will ship just dang near most anything to you should you need a replacement...............but according to the glock-a-holics............hardly anything ever fails..........

Re: The G19

...my G22 was a range gun...showed wear but never a hitch...I got rid of it after a reloaded lead SWC I'd bought from a local blew out the shell side where it's unsupported...burned my Kev with powder...their reloads weren't bad...it was a design error, I think they're supported 100% now...my brother bought it from me and he's put hundreds through it without a hitch...
...if Glock would produce an AK in 7.62x39, I would have one...they are reliable...I just don't like their handguns...

...BH, I'll bet you could shoot your Glock for a coupla years without cleaning it and it'd still function fine...can't say that for my Rugers...so there's you a +...

Re: The G19

You're probably right, Sheepdog. I'll keep it clean though, just in case.

Deputy's right. Glocks are like 1911's when it comes to getting parts. Another plus for any gun.

Re: The G19

My buddy had a short barreled .40 cal Glock that I shot at the range a few times. HE didn't much care for it, and I thought it was downright abusive. Made my Colt GM seem like a pussycat..

Re: The G19

I've never shot a 40, but hear that the lighter guns are snappy. The 9mm is a pussy cat.

Sheepdog, I wish.

Re: The G19

a 40 cal in about anything short of a full size pistol has some "snap" to it.

i have shot abunch of different 40's over the years. the softest shooter was brotherinlaw's full size kimber 1911. 2nd place belongs to the beretta 96 and that wide grip that seems to be soft. the most brutal was a khar covert 40.

the thing taht scares the crapola out of me about glock 40's is case support as i have sure seen some bulged factory range brass over the years. But if glocks were blowing up right and left the 40 cal glock would certainly not be the No. 1 weapon in leo circles..........even the anal-retentive fbi and batf with all of the govt safety crap have selected this weapon along with hundreds of depts.........then again i would not jump off a bridge because everyone else did..........

i am seeing fewer bulged cases nowadays as there are more and more generations of newer glocks out there......

still watching that ruger sr40 with interest since there have been numerous claims that it is a very soft shooting 40.

I like the looks of that SR40 Ruger too. Just read an article on it, and it seems like it'll be a good one.

Re: The G19

the issues are it seems getting fewer and fewer with the sr plastic guns......main little gripes i read about now are centered around grease in the firing pin channel from the factory that should be cleaned out and also a few issues with some "walking pins" in the pistols..............seems the nylon frames with the nylon pins may not stay secure and some have resorted to lock-tite to keep them in place.......this problem is not wide-spread...yet still the thought of it still keeps me wondering as i have not seen or heard of similar issues in the glocks or xd's................there has been a report or two though about some smith SD series having a similar problem however.

i ain't buying any guns anytime soon..........at least i keep telling myself that........AC is out on the wife's van...........and she is not amused especially since the last two days have hit 110 degrees..............i just tell her she don't need to go anywhere anyways.......

Snap... that's a mild way to put it. And I'm not one to shy away from big bores. I fired a Delta Elite some time ago that was more pleasant..

Re: The G19

...my G22 was the only .40 I experienced...but I didn't like it...a heavier gun would have helped...I'd go 9mm +P before .40 if I had the choice...but I never enjoyed the .357 either, it was just what was issued and required...and we put up with it...I'm glad some depts. still offer choices of platform...choice is good...

Re: The G19

I like how inexpensive the Glock mags are in comparison to most others. I picked up 4 G22 magazines for $20 apiece not long after I got the gun itself. I picked up another 2 used magazines that were in good shape for $15 apiece. Their magazines are generally very reasonably priced IMO. I consider Ruger, Taurus, XD and some other mags to be about middle-of-the-road price wise and Sig and H&K factory magazines are priced a bit too high for my liking. Thankfully for the Sig owners, Mec-Gar does offer some mags for those pistols.

I could not believe how much grease was in the new LC9, the worst of all the Ruger firearms that I have purchased.
