Thanks guys.....I like older 700's too....and I even broke down and bought a Tikka a while back when Eurooptics was closing out the T3's....$ 499 for a wood stocked T3 Hunter in 222....couldn't help myself and boy is it a shooting sumbuck...

Couple of 222's.....

And an old 700 Classic in 17Rem that's on it's second barrel...

Kind of fond of JM Marlins too....

And yea.....I like Leupolds...I consider them the working man's scope....I have them on everything but the Tikka that's wearing an old Sigtron I had in the drawer but.I'll probably change it too if I keep it......

It was never all that accurate but acceptable. I loved the rifle and round though so after tinkering with it for about five years I had a Pac-Nor barrel screwed on.
2000 rounds later it's still shooting .5 moa which is as good as I can shoot.

The CZ 527 with the stainless barrel also has a Pac-Nor barrel (17FB)...I'll never part with either one of em.
I do a lot of predator/varmint hunting so the 17's serve me well.

I have a cheap Savage M340 in 222 (got in the early to mid 80's) that shoots just fine and it blows large holes in woodchucks. Do you use your 222's on yotes or larger predators?

I built the Remington 222 specifically for Rock Chucks. I even had Leupold put a CDS on the scope so I could snipe em at a distance....one of my favorite pastimes. I haven't killed anything but paper with the Tikka yet...

I harvest the fur so I mostly use the 17's for predators....
It makes me feel guilty but my beloved 17Rem doesn't see much action since I morphed that CZ into a 17FB about ten years ago.
