Dashcam Catches Shooting Incident

I read on another forum that the officer survived but unfortunately lost an eye. I don't think I could have been nearly as patient with someone pointing a gun at me however. The shooter was subsequently taken out by the other officers who arrived on the scene.

Why do they talk to the bad guys? Eli Wallach said, " Don't talk, just shoot." Sound advice, in my opinion.

Re: Dashcam Catches Shooting Incident

the gun pointed their direction was reason enough to shoot...........perhaps they were worried about potential unknown occupants in the building behind the glass..........

if you watch the video, some police shots did apparently get sort of wild.....

purty definate at who the suspect was aiming at as the shotgun wad actually hit the patrol car's windshield......................

I'd have shot him as soon as he pointed that damn gun at me.

...Kim, I've taught my rookies and my sons, if it's bad enough you've got your gun on them...they know what's next...you don't have to tell 'em...if you're talking, you have to stop talking to pull the trigger...and that part of a second will(and has) let them beat you...DON'T TALK...(no matter what they teach you at the academy)...

Re: Dashcam Catches Shooting Incident

I feel the officer did what he felt he needed to do. Yes I agree he had ever right to shoot first, picks actions warrent that action to me. Hard to say what a person will do under fire or when a weapon is pointed at you. Easy to say I would do this or that, until it really happens to you. Baptishizm of fire, if one has never had it no one really knows what they are going to do. Also I believe he was the first officer on the sence, so that makes it even harder imop. Deputy does have a good point as there was no way to tell if anyone was in the back ground.
The hardest part for me was when they are telling him your going to be ok, andhim saying tell my wife and kids I love them. Very hard in deed.
We place alot on the plate of the LEO's as in a court there always going to ask the question did you try and talk the person out of shooting. I hate that, in this case an officer has been shot and for all I know my died from being shot. the dirty bag didn't deserve to live in the first place. And now we may have lost an officer as well as a husband and father.
We ask the LEO's to keep our streets and homes and work places safe so we can going through life enjoying what we do or don't do. But the very minute they take care of a dirt bag by shooting him then all of a sudden the dirt bag was the greatest guy in that town or city.
I for one would love to see some of the judges and grand jury people take a ride with the LEO's and see what they have to put with before they sit in judgement of them.
In this case I think throwing a hand gernade to the jerk here is you chance to de- fuse the situtation punk. Would have work just fine, epa clean up the waste of a human life afterwards. Ok I am done.
