What to do after a justified shooting...

http://www.humanevents.com/article.php?id=43233

Seems like good advice to me.

Re: What to do after a justified shooting...

It is good advice, for the most part. Following it to the letter guarantees a night, possibly a weekend, in jail. I am at least going to tell the officers that the dead guy robbed and shot at me, and I shot in self defense. Gives me a chance to go home to my family that day.

Don't shoot the BG in the back, and pray you are not in CA. Maybe in reverse order. Seriously, good advice!

Re: What to do after a justified shooting...

...you know, I've never posted this on a forum, but I will here amongst us...there is no way in the world I could afford to hire a lawyer...none...I'd have to wing it...and I don't think you get a court-appointed lawyer unless you're charged with something...so that means grand jury solo, if you have to go(which is how you get the Castle Doctrine protection...the shoot has to be ruled legal by the system...)...so you don't think I study to KNOW the law and use my brains and self-control to keep from having to shoot someone?!!! I concentrate on prevention and awareness and such, but my mind's been made up since I was a teen and hesitation will not be because of that consideration...I just truly hope it never comes to it that I have to shoot...

Re: What to do after a justified shooting...

The second to last thing I ever want to do is shoot someone. The last thing I ever want to do is be maimed or murdered. I don't want to, but I damn well will if I must.
