How many folks have .22 "trainer" handguns?

That is a .22 that is similar to a centerfire you us for practice? I got in the habit years ago. Here are some of my .22s and their centerfire counterparts

The HS was designed to duplicate the 1911 grip and feel the same .

All these guns are made on same frame .

I do, my competition gun is an STI 1911, my trainer is a Ruger 22/45 RP. Outfitted the same w/ similar grips and both with red fiber optic front sights.

I carry an XD sub in 9mm but practice with 22's. I call it practice and not training because they are differant type of weapons. In a way I'm training to be able to shoot any type of weapon.

My EDC is a Springfield 1911 micro-compact (.45acp) and I use my GSG 1911-22 as a significant part of my training exercises.

The last 4 Ruger 22 revolver's I've owned were junk in the accuratcy deptment . Around 100 round the guns leadup and a hard time keeping the bullets in the black , plus I spent more time getting the lead out of barrel then shooting . The day I got this Cimirron below I shot 12 rounds on this target and set another 12 rounds aside and shot the next 476 rounds on my steel target I use for SASS . Then I when back put the last 12 of 500 on the target . Clean up was a wet patch with Hoppe on it and then a dry one . ZERO leading in barrel . Go on Ruger forum and you will see all the 22 revolvers guy are bitching about accuratcy . This is the only paper target I ever shot with this gun .

Wow, Didn't know that. I shot a bearcat back in the 70's that was super accurate. I didn't own it or have to clean it though (it belonged to an old girlfriend) so I don't have the experience with it.
Thanks for the heads up.

I have this same pistol and love it but it oftern jams on me. The problem is when I'm cocking it then it will lockup and is difficult to get unjammed without taking it apart.

I have found with .22s that lead up, fire lapping helps a lot. Using the CCI CB caps (full length Lr cases with a .22 short powder charge) and just rolling them between thumb and finger coated with Clover brand (this IS brand important) valve grinding compound and then firing 6 cleaning and repeating to about 48 rounds, sometime more, works wonders. You want the low velocity of the CB rounds an Clover brand compound to get the right results.

You have a timing problem , which easy to fix with a file or stone and 30 mins .

The biggest problem with the Ruger 22 revolver is the cylinders chambers are drilled straight thur and not reamed . If the 22 bullet drops in the front cylinder forget , the gas run around bullet and will never seal . If the 22 stops like in the pic it is chamber with a reamer.

I think different than the accepted idea of shooting practice/training.

I subscribe to the idea that shooting is shooting and that whatever handgun you choose to shoot is good practice not necessarily training. For training you need to train with whatever gun you plan to use in the event your training for.

So anything I have that handles the same as something else was not intentional for practice or training.
