A new 9mm version of the SIG P238

SIG just put it up on their site. Basically the 938 is just a 238 in 9mm. From the stats the size difference is almost nothing.

The P938 (9mm) is on top, the P238 (.380) is on bottom:

Funny to see the big resurgence in the .380 recently. Just a short time ago it was seemingly minimal, borderline for defensive use and everyone clamored for the mini .45's. Gone full circle.
I looked at a 238 a while ago. Caught my eye just due to its size but the grip being so short just wasn't comfortable. Proportionately it's about perfect in looks though.

Interesting. Given the choice I'd go with the 9. That's just my preference though. I don't look down on the .380. I definitely wouldn't want to be looking down the wrong end of a .380

I don't like carrying anything smaller then a 40 SW or 45 ACP , I like the stopping power . The size on these 2 guns are 6.25" long and 4.75" high and about 1" wide , not that much bigger then the Sigs you posted . It is DA with NO safety to turn off or on . 3.5 lbs on Glock trigger and 5 lbs on Kahr . These are the only 2 large cal DA gun the trigger pull is not a stretch for me . I carry both these guns in the Ft pant pocket with no problems .

I like those two calibers too and lean towards them for actual SD carry.
I have another favorite also which I feel is more than adequate. The .357 Magnum.
I have more SemiAuto Pistols than Wheel Guns but I'm still a revolver man at heart.
I carry a revolver more than I do my Glock 23 .40S&W or any of my .45's.
I am extremely comfortable with all 3.
Been thinking about the 10mm lately. What you guys think?

My carry gun will forever be a .45 ACP or a .357 maggie but I want this 9mm for .........

Well, I have no idea. I just want it ok!

I have soooo many guns for absolutely no reason. If I bought this it would probably serve as a BUG or a BUG to a BUG.

Yes, I am crazy enough to try carrying three guns, just ask Beerman.

I mean this is my day off carry:

This is the only DA revolver I own . I carry it as a back gun only and I love it because you can point and shoot it from a purse [for them who carry one] or jacket pocket and the bad guy don't know you have it pointed at them . Being a sealed hammer , dirt , lint and foreign objects can't get beween hammer and firing pin .

I can relate to that. Even though I don't necessarily carry a 9mm for self defense, I own some.

"I have soooo many guns for absolutely no reason". Not meaning to argue Sir, but, I think there is a reason. Like me, you enjoy collecting and shooting firearms.

That's what I have been telling myself. Not only for SD but I am also an enthusiast.

Watch it. 15 years ago, after being a dedicated shooter for almost 20 years, I had never owned a 9. I bought one . Now I have 8 pistols and 2 carbines, and I DON"T KNOW WHY. To me they are like the popcorn of the shooting world-nothing I really want to live on but as long as it's around I'll take another handfull.

I like that analogy.

Relative to the 10 MM, it is a lot of handgun for carry. The bullet weights seem to be all over the place but I would think it would settle in at either a 180 or 200 gr bullet. Buffalo bore has a 220 gr that zips out at 1200 fps for an energy of over 700 ft/lbs and a momentum calc of 37. Woo hoo, hang on. Why not go all the way with a 44 mag. A 240 gr bullet at 1350 which gives 971 and 46 respectively.

My only issue would be overpenetration and trying to get your hearing back after touching it off without hearing protection.

I am a big 10mm fan, athought I only own one gun in that cal. I have shot it and reload for it but like you I am tired of everyone trying to get what they want out of it by turning it into a "Swiss Army Knife" of auto pistol rounds.. It was designed, originally for a 200 + gn bullet starting out at around 1,200 and up depending on bullet eight and purpose of the loading. I am finr woth that right there, ecstatic in fact. It defeats the purpose to try and drive ultra light bullets at the speed of light.

Quite in fact I walked into my LGS a couple of days ago and was going to order a new 10mm, buuut something caught my eye in the guns case. (I will post picture of the new toy shortly. (hint, look under revolvers)

I bought a Walther PK380 a few years ago because after hand surgery it was the only semi I could work the slide. Now that my hand is stronger I'm back with the XD in 9mm.

Best handgun I have for concealed carry. I shoot it often although usually just a magazine each time. I tend to shoot a lot but mostly with .22's.
