I like my 4" Redhawk but that 629 is sweet. How is it to shoot? I enjoy the great flame thrower pics. All that unburned powder.

The 629 is a great shooter. It doesn't recoil as much as you would think. I actually often carry it for SD.

I love the 44-40 ............. You can down load it to 44 spl spec or load it to meet or exceed the 44 mag and it is a super black powder shooter . ![]() ![]() ![]() |

![]() I think my next revolver will be a 41 maggie. A shop near my house has a S&W m58 NIB, and I have been resisting the purchase Last edited by mesinge2; 02-03-2012 at 04:24 AM. | |

(San Antonio PD) I wouldn't sell it for the world on a platter. One of the great regrets of my life was a 58 I didn't buy. It "floated" around Portland, I saw it in two gunshops and a gunshow. This was about 1980. Someone had sent it to Magna-port, the barrel was cut to 3", an action job, round butted, hammer bobbed and ported with stunning rosewood grips. It was clearly a handloading proposition but, apparently it changed hands with non-reloaders because the same box of factory "hunting" ammo followed it around. Each time it showed up there would be 6 less rounds in the box. When this one showed up I whipped out my wallet so fast I got friction burns on my keister. Get one, load for it, enjoy the last of the classic Smith fixed sight combat big bores.
