My father gave me something

My father was kind enough to give me something tonight that is very close to me.It is a Marlin .22 rifle model 60 I first shot when I was 9 years old and it is staying in my collection. My father first taught me to shoot when I was 9 years old and it was this rifle I learned to shoot. He kept it so long and he knew I deserved this rifle when he was rearrianging his main gun safe, saw it in there.I plan on getting it out to shoot it one of these days and already brought me back the memories.

Too show my age my first rifle was a Marlin Model 80 in 22 rimfire. It is the only 22 rifle I own right now as it shoot better than any others I have owned. I bought it mail order when I was in high school for the princely sum of $34 all in. I like how those old Marlins shoot and it great you have one one that is so meaningful to you. You can pass it on yourself some day. Tradition I love it.

Candice, please post a picture if you can. I recently inherited a 10/22 my father-in-law bought new in 1966. I met my wife in 1970 so I've been around that rifle 42 of its 46 years. Many times he told me the story of when he bought it. He never told his wife about it and one day the neighbor came over and asked him "how do you like that new rifle". He said Alice (his wife) just glared at him and he new he was in trouble.

He passed away almost a year ago at the age of 94. A few months before he passed I took him to the range and he shot a 1911 for the last time.
