The squib doesn't have the energy to fully cycle the bolt. He feels the squib load but instead of checking the bore. He then manually cycles the bolt & chambers a fresh round. Tap, rack, bang. Just like you see in all the tacti-cool videos on the internet. And voilą BOOM Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qoZnC...layer_embedded |

Makes you wonder about training beyond the level of caution. (Not quite the way I want to phrase it, but you get the idea)

I don't think it was a squib load , the barrel should have blowup . I think it never fired the load and he should have tried the forward assist 1st to see if it was out of battery and then went he removed the case to see if primed went off . If it was not crimped properly he left the bullet in throat when he pulled the case . 90% of the people who have a AR type gun don't have a clue how to run one safely .

I also noticed that he turned the rifle sideways, to look at ? (a magazine window?)(The bolt?). That shouldn't have mattered though. It indicated to me that he felt something wrong. He shouldn't have squeezed the trigger. They refer to him as KTdevildog like he had some affiliation with Marines. Marines are trained to notice/feel/detect the sound and feel of a projectile getting left in the barrel. If that is what he expected, He should have inspected prior to firing again, especially in a training scenario (not combat). If he really was ever in the Corps, he must have been given the boot, for Stupidity! Or maybe he was a Commisioned Officer. | |
