Does anyone have an opinion on Springfield Armory's TRP 1911, without any rail.

I can't give you an opinion on that model, specifically, but I can tell you that having had about ten other models of Springfield 1911s, from the Mil Spec on up through the several version of the Loaded and a Match Target, that SA is the best bang for the buck in a 1911. Have had many different brands of 1911s, but my track record is the best with SA and their customer service is top notch.

Not that it's any of my business, but why a TRP? If it's accuracy, you sure don't need to spend that much money. My bottom end Mil Spec has shot groups comparable to 1911s costing three times as much. In fact, I have never owned an SA that wasn't accurate. That's a given with any SA.

It's no coincidence that after my recent purge of 1911s and switching to revolvers, the only 1911s I kept are SAs (and the Mil Spec is one of them).

My mother gave me a S&W Classic Hunter many years ago. I am narrowing my handguns down to .45ACP, 9mm and .22LR. I have sold my Classic Hunter and want to buy a nice .45 to remember her by. The money from the S&W makes that possible. The S&W has been a safe queen for many years. I used to tote it hunting, but decided I didn't want any more wear on it, so I locked it up. The TRP would get shot alot.

Am I the only shooter on the planet that has never shot a 1911? The only .45 pistol I've ever shot was a S&W 645. The only centerfire pistol I ever owned was a S&W 39. I guess the 1911 mystique never caught me. Maybe because there are a gazillion different 1911s out there and it was just too hard to decide, like RidgeRunner.
