Air Gun Report

For our new folks, I am a hardcore air gun shooting nut, but haven't posted much on air gun shooting, these last months, because my outdoor range has been a bit on the wet side, thanks to an unusually wet summer and the fact that the range is actually built on bog land. In other words, walking out to put up paper targets meant getting my feet wet, not to mention the wet conditions created a bumper crop of mosquitoes.

Oh, I've been shooting on a regular basis, as always, but shooting metal spinner and reactive targets (all the way out to 50 yards), instead of paper, to save having to walk out to the shooting stations. (Rather not wear waders when I'm shooting. ). Shooting metal is fun, but not much to report about for the sake of doing posts.

Not to fear, though - indoor shooting has begun, what with our temps rapidly dropping. Even had a few flakes of snow, this week.

Spring piston guns are my specialty and here's a couple of favorites. Both are Weihrauch HW30S in 177. The top gun is the Deluxe and it wears a Williams peep. The bottom gun, and the one I used for this report, is the HW30S Laminate and it wears a Nikon 3-9x, which I usually set at 4x for offhand work

Took several indoor sessions to get back into my usual offhand shooting groove. (All my indoor shooting is from a standing position at a full 10 meters, whether using a scope or a peep sight). Finally all came together, a few days, ago. Can't do this all the time, but just often enough to keep me coming back, again and again to try.

Hope to see some other folks posting about air guns, too, now that winter is approaching.

Love seeing your air guns and range reports. You certainly give me something to shoot for.

Won't be too long before you can skate out and hang the targets. Nice shooting.

I love this tennis ball with the hole in the center . I can hit the TB 100% of the time because it is big with all my air guns . Now shooting threw hole offhand is more challenging without hitting the TB . NO need to change the papers either . The down side there is no proof for show and tell .

Exactly, TGR. Pretty hard to do a show and tell without paper, but it sure is fun and I think it is better practice if you ever wanted to shoot at live targets. Those don't come with bullseyes on them. Shooting these reactive targets of various sizes and shapes can be a real challenge, deceptively so. Anyone who has shot silhouette as we have knows this all too well.
