Finally fondled a Kimber K6s .357

Sportsman's Warehouse had one this morning, the second one they've gotten. The first one was gone an hour after they put it out.

Very nice fit and finish, they say satin. I'd call it a low-gloss polish, and 100% of the gun is polished. Not a dull spot, scuff, or tool mark anywhere.

The main thing that gets me on this gun is that every moving part is very smooth. You don't feel any rub or drag at all. The crane, cylinder latch, ejector, all smooth as silk.

Trigger is a little stiffer than my LCR, by maybe a pound or so. Just a little take up and overtravel. A steady, even resistance until the "click". Barrel / cylinder gap almost non-existant, I'd guess .002, and endshake is just enough to say it has any. The six sided cylinder looks odd, but less so in person, the flat spots looking almost like the flutes we're used to seeing. Weighs six ounces more than a .357 LCR.

The blue rubber grips are marked on the bottom with the Crimson Trace logo, but no laser. They dont cover the backstrap, just the front.

Some reviews really like the sights being replaceable. Front is pinned in, rear is mounted with what looks like a hex screw. No replacements as yet. Against a bright light in the store, the notch is a good bit wider than the blade; more for quick acquisition than precision.

It may be worth $ 799 (MSRP is $ 899), but for me, that's 60% more than a .357 LCR, but not 60% better. $ 650, I'd be tempted. I'd like to see a .22 version with a hammer, too.

Short article with two good large photos:
