Design change or goof?

The area below the crane release on my new SP looks significantly different than any other SP I've ever seen. I've even made an effort to look at newly received SPs at local LGSs. None like it. Pointed, with a groove to access the screw. Not the best looking, but it works as good as any.

Left photo is my new .357 SP. The second is my .22 SP, I've seen some centerfire SPs with this design. I think this looks the best. Third is what most centerfire SPs look like now in my big boxes.

Almost looks like they didn't mill off the area between the cylinder stop and the screw hole.

I sent the pictures to Ruger today; I'll see what they say.

It works as good as the other designs, and looks to be done on purpose.

I found a better photo of the "standard" SP frame lug, edited my OP.

Sandy Greene from Ruger wrote me back. They changed the design in late 2016, so there will be more like mine coming out of the warehouses eventually. I guess it went along with the tapered cylinder. You can see that pretty well in my photo.
