Stopping Bear attack's

What is the best way to stop a bear attack? here in texas in east texas they have now introduced black bears, we got ridd of them for a reason but now we have them. Its illegal to shoot one and you are suppose to report bear attacks. I no intention of letting any bear attack me and pet it as it walks off. But it seems that in what the fish and game dept. wants us to do. Damn the hunman but save the bear bull roar. Not planing to hunt one just don't want to be supper either. Any idea's????

...the laws of self-defense were written based on principles...same principles apply to a snake, a bear, or anything else that wants a bite of me...
...what caliber would you recommend on Texas mosquitoes???

Keep you eyes open looking for cubs, see one get out of there. Make lots of noise. Carey and use a bear spray. When all else fails kill it.
Up here I keep my eyes open and carry a 44 or bigger at all times, had them in the yard of the cabin more then once and have heard them in the woods, never did see them other then there tracks.

Re: Stopping Bear attack's

I'm with Gunrunner and JW Seriously, good Bear Spray works for Black Bears and a 44mag or better for hand guns but you can't beat that Guide Gun! I load mine with Randy Garrett's hardcast ammo!

Re: Stopping Bear attack's

Black bears aren't that big, especially in Texas. Most any gun will work in a pinch. Bear spray is probably better, but I will stick with a gun. Self defense against imminent, serious bodily harm is a valid reason to kill anything, even protected and endangered species.

Re: Stopping Bear attack's

These kind of post on "Bear Attacks" always make me laugh. If you want to carry a firearm for such, the best is a 12 ga shotgun loaded with proper "00" loads, Counter Attack is good bear spray.

On a serious note, how many of you wear a plastic hard hat to protect your head from static electrical hit while outdoors?

You simply stand a greater chance of being struck by lightning than you would a bear.

But if your going to carry a sidearm, practice your fast draw. Bears will cover 100 feet in 3 seconds.

Re: Stopping Bear attack's

I can tell you one thing .... 3 men swing long guns in a 4 man tent don't work , if a little PA black bear in the middle of the night tries to come in your tent , long guns are the last thing you need to grab . Hand guns only in tents and NO SPRAY either . It look like we were making a 3 Strooges movie
