Its illegal to shoot one and you are suppose to report bear attacks. I no intention of letting any bear attack me and pet it as it walks off. But it seems that in what the fish and game dept. wants us to do. Damn the hunman but save the bear bull roar. Not planing to hunt one just don't want to be supper either. Any idea's???? |

Keep you eyes open looking for cubs, see one get out of there. Make lots of noise. Carey and use a bear spray. When all else fails kill it. Up here I keep my eyes open and carry a 44 or bigger at all times, had them in the yard of the cabin more then once and have heard them in the woods, never did see them other then there tracks. |

Black bears aren't that big, especially in Texas. Most any gun will work in a pinch. Bear spray is probably better, but I will stick with a gun. Self defense against imminent, serious bodily harm is a valid reason to kill anything, even protected and endangered species.

These kind of post on "Bear Attacks" always make me laugh. If you want to carry a firearm for such, the best is a 12 ga shotgun loaded with proper "00" loads, Counter Attack is good bear spray. On a serious note, how many of you wear a plastic hard hat to protect your head from static electrical hit while outdoors? You simply stand a greater chance of being struck by lightning than you would a bear. But if your going to carry a sidearm, practice your fast draw. Bears will cover 100 feet in 3 seconds. |

Hand guns only in tents and NO SPRAY either . It look like we were making a 3 Strooges movie |
