New to me bow

No pictures at this time, but I have a recurve bow now. I have shot a bow in over 30 years and I am looking forward to it. I bought a string and 5 practice arrows at the local archery shop to get me started. The bow was my wife's grandfather's. It could use a sanding and coat of stain, but it is not too bad. It has what seems to be a snake skin grip (or whatever you call the part you hold on to). I am not going to do any refinishing until I confirm that this cool, nostalgic thing works. I hope it does, because I sure as heck can't afford a compound bow any time soon. It will be fun to learn a whole new sport.

Re: New to me bow

Well bummer. Not surprised but disappointed. The bow broke when I tried to string it. Wood to old. I guess the good part is that it gave me the jump start I needed to get in to archery. Will have to be on the prowl for another recurve.

Yep, I already have a potential bow picked out based on his posts in the past.

Good going! A recurve is an inexpensive (well, less expensive) way to get in to archery, huess I'm gonna have to dig mine out.

Cruelshoes, did you get another recurve yet, and arrows that are spined for your bow?
