Well, this Henry H001 Model .22 LR came into my possession a little while back, and as much as I loved it, the only problem seemed to be the rear sight. It was way to shallow, and a real bugger to see with any clarity. So after a lot of looking around on the net, I ran into Skinner Sights out of Montana. The produce this nifty aperture sight that drifts into the standard 3/8's dovetail of just about any small bore gun. Elevation is controlled by a threaded rod under the aperture, and secured with a set screw. Neat little set up to say the least, and it made my groups go from OK to outstanding. As for the Henry, this little gun is slicker than snot. The action feels great, and it feeds smoothly and flawlessly. .22 Shorts feed great as well, which is fun considering it will hold 21 rounds of those. ![]() ![]() |

i've seen sks rifles converted with a ghost peep in place of the rear barrel sight......seems to work well enough as long as it is a large enough appature..... believe williams makes them |

You can't go as small of aperture as if the sight was mounted on the tang, but for me it works better than a buck horn. The one I have in it now is .096". I also have a .040" one for bright sunny days and target shooting. If you take out the aperture, it is a .250" ghost ring sight. I have no trouble seeing through the sight and it sure is a fun little bugger to shoot! |

I put then on an SKS I had. Fiber optic front sight and peep in the rear. Nice set up. Nice lever gun, John. | |

I had to send my Henry back for repairs. It seems they don't like being shot like Chuck Connors shoots his Winchester 92 on the Rifleman. |
