He bought off a fellow shooter in cas a Navy Arms 73 in my favorite caliber 44-40 Its saddle ring carbine I have been looking for one so on the way brack from the gun buy we trade guns. Of course his was worth more than mine I I traded 5 boxs of ammo to even out the deal. So all was good. |

So about the only thing that I could use the rifle for was shooting poker in the long range. Of which I did tell him about the blow back with liter loads, he said no problem. I am thinking boy you just wait your going to see no problem.I ended up with around 30 rounds of 44-40 reloads of his of which I will shoot in his or my new rifle, and a box of Winchester nickle plate 44-40s soft point. Has a pictue of the Duke and his signature, the shells are no good to me as they can't be reloaded. The only dies they make for the 44-40 are steel dies and nickle and steel don't mix well the nickle scarch's the sizer die. But all in all I think I came out a head. |

First of all you have to actually shoot a match to see what works for you and what doesn't work for you. One of the misstahes I made was that I didn't go to a match and ask to shoot their guns after the match was over any of us will be glad to let anyone do that by the way. It gives you a better idea as to what you want and what you would like to shoot. Then see how the other dress see how you would like to dress and what type of shooting you want to shoot. My second match I knew I wanted to shoot classic cowboy, the out fit the flair of shooting with one hand on the six guns and the era of the actual cowboy its self does it for me. The compatition is hell for stout, very hard to out shoot the top shooters. But once you learn your style of shooting doing the best you can as you move up in your shooting rank then you have really do something. There are those that will drown down in an easier class if a top shooter in their class shows up. To me that is a sign of weakenes, there will never be weakeness in me or my choice of shooting style. I may come in dead last at the main matchs but it can never be said of me that I ever drop down in class because who showed up. After all the Duke Dutch, Hoppie Gene and Roy to name a few never ever backed down. Then how can I in good faith keeping life of the cowboy alive ever back down? It just simple can't be, these cowboy's were my childhood hero's and I owe it to them to do my best. And once I have done my best no one can ask any more of me than my very best. I believe that we should care this over into our very life we live each day do your very best. No one is prefect maybe that is why God gives more than one day to live. |
