1876 Rifle

Through a fellow shooter found a good gunsmith and he is putting new sightson my rilfee and a nice triger job $250.00 not bad at all. I should get it in a few weeks. Sure was a nice drive out there too. I enjoyed the day and the drive.

Sounds exciting, Snuffy.

I'm getting a new Rossi sorted out by Rossi 92 Specialist in Port Arthur. Hoping to get that next month.

Re: 1876 Rifle

Yep sure is, I have never shot using a globe front sight so this is going to take some getting use to. Shooting long distance there is so much to consider the wind the lite. Of course we give each other a time when we miss and yell when we hit.

200 yards, where I shoot at. The target's start out really big and get really small as you go through the course of fire. But other clubs shoot out to 800 yards I am told. I don't have any guns that has the sights for that distance. But I am working on it.

800 is too much for me. Hell, 200 might be!

Re: 1876 Rifle

I have placed a few times in the 200 yard range but very few times. After the expense of sights on these rifles I hope I will at least place more than I have been here in the past. I have had several folks say that 200 yards isn't much. Until they try it, different story then.

You'll get better with practice. I'll still suck in a year.

With long range and cowboy shooting there are always plenty of folks to help you learn to become a better shoot.

Re: 1876 Rifle

Up date on the rifle, the load has been finalized by him and the bullet weight of 300 gr.s Powder is 4198 at 27 gr.s even. I will get it back home this coming Tuesday. Total cost to me is $300.00 the crown on the barrel had to be fixed. I am thinking of getting the bullets from master Craft molly coated. Once I master the 200 yard I am moving up to 300 yards and more. If my eyes hold out and I don't get a bad cross wind I should hit the mark.
