Howdy kids, A feller I met at the first Cowboy Action Shoot I ever saw, has developed the Perfect Marlin. A lotta people said this can't be done but here it is. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=65iSD0tk ... re=channel There is another video by him also, you can find by clicking "See all videos by...." Now for the better news. I have the plans for this. I am in the process of compiling all of them into a document that just maybe I can share with any interested parties. I'll keep yall posted. This Really Works! Later! |

I don't own any lever guns. But I did come close to picking up a Marlin 30-30 last wek that was marked $295. It was used, but it was in real nice shape. I'll have to remember this video if I do get one. |

The mod in video are not for a 336 action , only for the 1894 action ... You can take a stock Marlin in 32-20 , 38-40 or 44-40 and replace the firing pin with a 1 piece and a spring kit do the same thing . The problem is in straight wall case , don't do that mod to a bottle neck case gun . That gun has a lot more mod in it then he said . I noticed it has no hammer to bolt hop and the trigger flop over is gone also . But like he said with a little work you can make them run very good . |

I see. I guess all I'd have to do is shorten the barrel then. |

There is only one way a barrel split that way was something stuck half down the barrel , like a squib load the bullet never made it out of the barrel and reg round fired behind it . A double charge or wrong powder won't do that .... |

I suspect Gunrunner is right. Firing out of battery might wreck the action but it takes some doing to split a barrel like that. Will a .35 chamber in a .30-30 ? An obstruction would seem most likely with rapid fire causing the shooter not to stop. Whatever, I agree it must have hurt. |

I had a guy bring me a new Ruger Redhawk 44 mag once that had a bullet lodged in the barrel and 2 behind it.It was bulged out but never split or blew out. I sent it to Ruger and they put on a new barrel for free,I was surprised they did.. |

Howdy youall! Widowmaker Hill, the man who did the work and you saw in the video, got together with Marauder and put most of the info with pictures on a web site: http://marauder.homestead.com/files/Wid ... Marlin.htm This information started out as a post by Widder on the SASS Wire and it can be found there doing a search for Widdermatic. One of the Best accomplishments this does on a Marlin is the speed which can be obtained cycling and firing it. The next best thing is the rifle is no longer as "Length Sensitive" as almost all Marlins are when trying fast shooting. The part about chamfering the top of the magazine tube inside the receiver was actually discovered by me 3 or 4 years ago when I bought the 336SS. That alone does a great deal in improving cycling. |

I have reworked my Marlin again. You can work the lever with one finger and crank out 10 dummy rounds with 3 in the air at a time. It can shoot 10 rounds pretty quick too! LOL Now I just have to make sure I can hit 10 targets in the right order that fast. I can fill it up with different lengths and it doesn't seem to be having any problems. I was afraid I might get light strikes and all I have is CCI Primers, but it hasn't missed any yet. Of course I'm not at a cowboy stage with the timer running yet either! Funny things happen once that timer goes, BEEEP! |
