The weather outside is frightful...

But down in my new and improved indoor gun range, the weather is fine!

So, I already had a small bullet trap in my basement that was made for stopping .22 LR rounds, but I found something just a little bigger and sturdier on Craigs List the other day, and made the couple hour drive to pick it up. It's a used HUGE bullet trap that was made for commercial gun ranges. It's 6' 3" tall, 33" wide, and 24" deep. It's made with heavy duty steel and rated to take up to .44 Mag rounds.

And for the price I got it for, I could get almost all my money back out in scrap if I had too.

So here's a couple of pics of my basement range. Just so you know that I'm doing things right, I have an industrial exhaust fan in the casement window next to the trap and we open all the other windows in basement to make sure there is good air flow. My basement isn't heated, but it still stays around 40-50 degrees down there even if it's 2 degrees outside. I can get 12 yards distance from the trap.

BTW it was a giant PITA to get it down the stairs! My cousin came over today and he put about 200 rounds into it. No splatter and very very little dust. I used hard-board for a target packer as I can get it for $11 for a 4'x8' sheet.

That's freakin cool! My basement is too small for one, but I'd probably try anyway!

Envy. Nothing but envy. I thought I was cool with lead free primers and wax bullets. Now I feel lame...

Buy a BB gun and shoot out the window of the house like I do.
