Some range time

The boss and I convened the bald New Hampshire guy chapter of Gunnerforum today. It was nice to see that Bountyhunter is the same in person as he is on line.

We went out to the woods by his work and lit up some soda cans. Here is a picture of somebody else's soda can, since I neither took any pictures nor hit the can as well as this.

It was a blast. The pachy grips on my SP101 are great. I already knew that they fit my hand well, but it was nice to have confirmation of this with more than dry firing. They also soak up recoil well. I could have shot all day long if my budget allowed for it. It will be nice to get my reloads and reloading gear out here so that I can afford to shoot more.

We shot his Redhawk too. It was easier to hit the cans with that bad boy.

We got to try out my new carry ammo too. Speer Gold Dot 135gr made for short barrel snubs. It is the first time I shot this load and I really like it. It is very controllable, and the flash is noticeably less than other ammo. On the other hand, It was the first time I got to watch somebody else shoot my SP, and it was cool to see the flame thrower effect with the heavier ammo as I watched from the side.

On a side note, the boss and Jen have a really cool home and 1.5 cool dogs.

Re: Some range time

I'm telling Riley you called him half a dog.

Those grips are pretty sweet on that SP. The damn thing actually cut my trigger finger. My skin is dry from the chemicals I use at work and my finger actually cracked open.

The redhawk had some misfires. Quite a few actually. I have to figure out how to get the cylinder off the crane. If I can do that, it'll be an easy fix. I think.

It was a good day, and Cruelshoes proved to be a good guy. Got to take him to my local to look at some guns too.

Re: Some range time

Brownells sells a special tool for taking the cylinder off the crane. I have done it with my GP100. It aint for the faint hearted.

Glad you guys had a good time.

It is actually called "The good looking bald New Hampshire guy chapter of Gunnerforum" but I was trying not to make the boss blush.

Sorry for breaking the Redhawk. It apparently worked fine until I made it go click.

Yep, you done did break it.

Danny and I are going to melt it down and make steel bullets out of it to kill Banshees.

I will only let him dremel on my SP if you let him take a hacksaw to your shotguns.

The theory is that it was biting him because of the way he rolls a revolver in his hand upon recoil, it bit him with the front part of the trigger where it meets the frame. He has been shooting single actions from back in the days when he was know has curly. I, on the other hand, only shot single actions after I had been shooting double actions for a while. I don't roll the gun in my hand like he does and it does not bite me.

Re: Some range time

Yep, I tend to let the revolvers roll back and up a bit when shooting them. DA or SA. The Redhawks roll nice with the stock wood panels on it. Much like a SA. Those little SP's bite me. Mine did it too. The only gun I've ever found that I can't shoot a lot of rounds thru. I could put a box thru my old SBH 44 Magnum no problem, but give me an SP, and I'm toast after 20 rounds. The wierd thing is, I don't remember my Taurus snub ever doing that to me.

Oh well, it was still a box of fun.
